Shipped introduces us to Henley, a driven employee of Seaquest cruises who is gunning for a promotion to Digital Marketing Director. Remember cruises? Part of what makes this book so fun is that it feels almost retro to read about people frolicking aboard a cruise ship.
Henley’s competition for the job is Graeme, whom she finds as loathsome as he is handsome.
Because any romcom requires forced togetherness, Henley and Graeme get sent on a Seaquest cruise to hone their marketing proposals. This book could have been hokey; after all, a cruise ship offers a buffet of ready-made comedic opportunities, but just when it seems like it might sail in that direction, the story gets a shot of heart.
Shipped is author Angie Hockman’s debut novel, and she has proven she’s one to watch.
